From planning to successful implementation: manage sustainability projects efficiently and lead them to success.

A well-thought-out and structured approach to planning and implementing sustainability initiatives is crucial to their success. Many sustainability managers have extensive expertise in sustainability issues, but often lack the methodological skills to successfully carry out these projects.

In this workshop, you will learn proven methods from classic project management as well as agile approaches that are specifically tailored to the needs of sustainability projects. You will also gain insights into effective change and communication management, enabling you not only to plan your sustainability strategy but also to implement it successfully. The workshop offers you a comprehensive toolset that you can flexibly apply to the specific requirements of your projects. The special features and challenges of sustainability projects are specifically addressed.

BASICS OF PROJECT- AND PROGRAM MANAGEMENT

  • Integrated classic and agile methods: Learn the basics of classic project management (e.g. waterfall model) and combine them with agile methods (e.g. Scrum) to be able to react flexibly to changes.

  • Project organization and resource management: Structure your project with clear roles, responsibilities and effective resource allocation to ensure that all necessary resources are available and used optimally.

 

ANALYSIS METHODS

  • Risk analysis: Identify, assess and prioritize risks that could jeopardize the success of your sustainability project. Learn methods for risk mitigation and monitoring.

  • Double Materiality analysis: Conduct a double materiality analysis to identify the most important issues and risks from both a financial and societal perspective and integrate them into project planning.

 

IMPLEMENTING THE PROJECT

  • The project phases: Explore the requirements and specifics of each project phase – from initiation, planning, execution and monitoring to project completion.

  • Special requirements for sustainability initiatives: Identification of the additional requirements that may arise in sustainability projects, e.g. due to legal requirements or specific stakeholder expectations.

  • Competencies and skillset of project managers: Analysis of the necessary skills and competencies that project managers and teams need to successfully manage sustainability projects, including the ability to work across disciplines.

  • Establishing a PMO (Project Management Office): Structure and benefits of a PMO to improve the coordination and standardization of project management processes in the company and ensure the successful implementation of sustainability initiatives.

 

CHANGE MANAGEMENT

  • Managing Resistance to Change: Learn methods and techniques to recognize, understand and proactively manage resistance to change. This includes the psychological aspects of change management as well as the practical implementation of change management plans.

 

COMMUNICATION

  • The basics of successful communication management: developing a communication strategy that ensures all relevant information is communicated to the right stakeholders at the right time to promote transparency and acceptance.

  • Stakeholder engagement: building and maintaining relationships with all key stakeholders. Learn techniques to actively involve stakeholders in the project process and gain their support for the project.
